The Bandipur Cottage

Nestled inside the Bandipur buffer forest, amidst a labyrinth of teak trees, The Bandipur Cottage is a beautiful three bedroom villa. Built in 1989 and recently renovated, the Cottage is reminiscent of a bygone era. With thick stone walls, antique decor and plush interiors, we offer the perfect blend between luxury and wilderness. Spread over a few acres, the property is home to herds of deer, langur monkeys, a resident female leopard and passing elephants that can be viewed from your bedrooms.

Overlooking a dense teak forest planted by us in 1988, the Cottage offer a unique experience. Whether it’s photographing birds from the Bush Pool, or counting deer from your bedroom, or just unwinding in our reading corner to the sounds of the jungle, the peace that resonates here is exactly what you need. Our Breakfast Machaan offers an aerial view of the teak forest and is a great place to not just have breakfast but also catch a glimpse of the resident leopardess. Evenings at the Cottage are often spent by our beautiful fireplace with a drink and a barbecue.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve is home to a plethora of wildlife and holds some of the highest density for endangered asiatic animals. The park has a great population of tigers, leopards, bears, Indian wild dogs, elephants, guar and a variety of deer. Nestled into the hills with views of the mighty Nilgiris in the distance, this is a haven for birds as both resident and migrants seek shelter in these woods.

Wildlife at The Cottage

Spread over a few acres, the property is home to an abundance of wildlife. Thirty years ago, the owners planted teak trees that has now grown into a beautiful little forest. Herds of deer gather there and in our garden, often seen from the rooms and heard alarm calling for the resident leopard. The female leopard lives on our property and is usually seen at dusk. The cacophony of birds from the teak forest drowns all other sounds in the cottage.

Grab a book, sit in our lounge or the swimming pool and enjoy the wildlife around.
